That's the spirit. This is what kept homebrewing going through the 70s and 80s.

I promised to come back and review this. Well, I'm ******* drinking it! And it's going down very nicely. There's still a bit of an off flavour, not sure what it is but it was there early on in the kettle souring period, a bacteria by product. It doesn't ruin it though and the kids don't seem to notice it. It's incredibly refreshing. Really zingy, lemon citrus with cucumber, and a bit yoghurty! The cucumber is obvious but not too much. Is the mint there? Not sure. Sort of. Is it beer?! Not really! If I was handed a glass with no explanation I'm not sure I'd guess it was beer. It's like very sour Lilt without the pineapple, or something. Kids have both tried it and like it. Son said he'd be very happy if he got it in a craft bar. Daughter said it's nice, would like it more sour. It's pretty sour though! I'm intending to have another go with Sourpitch instead of yoghurt. Because, I'm enjoying it as it is and if I can perfect it then it will be excellent. Barely beer, but a very refreshing sour summer drink.

I guess not but sour beer fiends see beer sexiness very differently. Bit kinky they are. They'd see a crystal clear golden beer with a creamy white head as boring mainstream bimbo yawn porn. 🙂

I think it looks fairly sexy!
well done for pulling it off (ooer) phil. I think using a lacto pitch rather than yogurt should make it easier to manage, though whether you could still call it tatziki is another question!

Sounds good, Phil. Glad you came back to update us. 🙂

I know what you mean about the "is it beer" thing. I think I'd probably have the same reaction. But it is beer, right? A slightly hopped brew made with malted barley, what else could it be? Given it's 5,000-year history (or whatever, probably older than that), beer is, not surprisingly, a big tent. If you think about it, the contraction of styles over the past 100 years or so was more of blip than anything.

Yeah it's got malt and yeast and hops in it so it's beer. I like the way it's a bit green! I left the skin on the cucumber. The colour changes your perception of what it is.

I bottled the WLP644 beers today, same base beer but very different hops. Both tasted good, 20 bottles of each, beers in the bank.  👍

Nothing beats that feeling.
