Spray malt is the devil's sh!t.

Especially that bit when you first tip up the open bag and it flows out everywhere ten times faster than you expect.

That's gonna be worse. Some kind of watering can dispenser would be ideal. Maybe I will invent one. I know how home brewers love a new gadget to spend money on.

Really, I shouldn't laugh - I've just bought a bag for making slants with.  What worries me is more the fact it turns to a solid malt brick when it encounters a single molecule of water.... Need some way of storing the stuff and keeping it dry..
Beer is like porn - you can buy it easily enough, but its so much more fun to make it

I had my first experience with DME last week, before then I'd only used LME beer kits. I didn't have any problem tipping it up- maybe because I cut a small corner off so it couldn't come out very fast even if it wanted to- my problem was that as it came out and came into contact with the steam from the brew pot it basically formed a stalactite of malt extract from the packet!

If you do invent a dispenser of some sort let me know!

I avoid adding DME to steaming liquids now. Either add before you boil, or cool a bit after the boil to about 80C. Or add to some cold in a bowl or something and then add to the boil.

Or use the device I will invent someday.
It's going to be called the malt-o-matic 2000(TM) to give it a futuristic feel.
