English Ale Yeast

I can't really remember what that one tastes like ?  Watery I seem to remember, slightly malty. Clear, unimpressive head and sort of very light amber colour. Having said that I was drinking it in the 80's ... it had probably gone the way of Boddington's by then.

So we are looking at about 15 - 20 IBU's

Any idea what that English Ale Yeast should be ?  I was thinking Wyeast 1318 ... get a bit of a malty thing going.

but apparent attenuation is 78% ... Wyeast 1026 ?

My sort of recipe ... simple draught ale ... I like it ... I'll probably change most of the ingredients, call it Stone's on Draught and brew it as my next session beer.

Looks like Mangrove Jack's MJ36 would do the job ... and I have a packet in the fridge ... this is turning into a project.

Stones was a good session beer back in the early 80s. I suspect the IBUs were in the 20s. 1318 would be a good choice I think.

Back in the 80's ... I was brought up on Bass, Wadworth 6X, Flower's IPA and Courage Best.  I can only remember the Stone's from the late 80's perhaps early 90's .... it may have gone into cream flow by then.

Bass ... I still enjoy a pint of Bass now if you can get hold of it ... but it needs seriously good looking after and seems to be an endangered species ...
