I think I remember seeing a you tube clip on filtering and they said if you get too fine a filter it just clogs. Think they were talking about less than 1 micron though. I'll see if I can find it and post a link.

I can't seem to link the video I was looking at but he did a good step by step he was filtering hard cider and it was cloudy. he had a 1 micron filter and was pushing 5psi. and it was coming out super clear.

EDIT

I like my water with barley and hops

interesting this steve

I use commercial finings in liquid form but neither are technical vegan and I was considering filtering.

Does the filter consistently work

Hi Ivor, i would have to say its not as good as finings, having said that i have only used it twice.

The only massive difference is it does seem to age the ale? maybe its taking something out ??

How did this work out for you Steve? I was thnking of trying similar, from keg to keg with pressure. And where did you buy from? Only one I've seen whole is £128, which considering the parts seems crazy.

Doh, found it :

But did you notice the benefits more than usual clarifying methods?

I did notice some difference, however and tbh I’d just stick to gelatine, far to much faff on and gelatine gives better results, also You have to use much finer filters than what’s supplied.

Sorry for the late reply I’ve been busy

OK, thanks for letting me know. I've also had really impressive results from gelatine, so I'm glad I asked.
