Got some to use in a brew, any suggestions for a hop to pair them with? Don't really want the usual suspects. Got some Summit as well, would they go well?

Or might they be nice as a single hop?

I've done single hop brews with Columbus, it's a good hop. It has a very strong sweet floral aroma when dry hopped. Have you tried Cwtch?

It's a pungent hop, a little goes a long way. It's dank, must be related to Apollo I reckon. If you want to pair with other hops, the C hops are commonly used with Columbus - Cascade, Chinook, Centennial. Safe options I think. It's often thrown into IPAs with other hops though.

The Summit hops are a bit of a grenade - the two descriptions I've come across are "intense citrus, Tangerine"...or "Onions and Garlic".  Talk about hop Russian Roulette....

I have 400g of pellets in the fridge, they're really dank, potent and I get both citrus and onion from the aroma.  You gotta give it a go, haven't ya ? [rofl]  Im lucky that I have some cheap kits left over that Im going to use - no loss if it ends up down the sink then.
Beer is like porn - you can buy it easily enough, but its so much more fun to make it [wink]

I've just remembered that I did use it before with Chinook and Centennial. The Chinook seemed to dominate that brew though and was one I had to be in the mood for.

Might play safe and go with Cascade!

If you want to restrain the Chinook you could obviously use less and / or use them as steep or dry hops.

Just throwing it in there, but I recon Comet would be a good pairing for Columbus.

I'm only going off commercial beers on the Comet as I've not used it myself yet, but I have used Columbus and I recon Comet offers some flavours which would compliment Columbus well.
