Let us know how the fermentation goes with the Bedford yeast. I'm not sure I've managed to get the best out of it so far.

I see lots of people saying how good it is but I have no idea and if the beer doesn't come out well I won't know whether to blame the hops or the yeast. I don't often buy liquid yeast because post sometimes takes too long to get to me, this was posted on Saturday and arrived today, so that's four days and the vials were pretty warm, they fizzed up when I opened them.

<daft question> excuse the daft obvious question.. but are colgate hops minty?..  or is that just a coincedence </daft question>

Think I got mine from amazon too, about £20 (bit less I think) for a 2ltr. Anything bigger starts getting silly money.

cheers..  thats about what ive seen them for..  think i am probably just being tight, but the mason jar does the job so i have put off spending the cash

No, not minty. Has there ever been a minty beer? Might be a project.

From Ron Pattinson's blog...

H Lloyd Hind, Brewing Science and Practice, Vol 1, 1938
The Colgate, raised from a wild hop by Mr D. Colgate of Chevening in 1805, is a small narrow hop, square in section, with thin pale petals and a coarse flavour. It was the latest hop to ripen, frequently not being ready to pick until October, for which reason it was expensive to grow and has been practically abandoned. Really ripe samples were, however, of quite good quality.
