Lots of the guys at my local homebrew club are loving them... just snip and pitch, they aren't ven bothering with a vitality starter.  All very happy with the strains tried so far... Pub and Juice get the highest praise... Pub is Fuller's apparently.

They are designed to not require a starter. 2 billion cells, like a dried yeast pack. Nearly a tenner though.

That could easily be more than the other ingredients put together. Could be worth it, if they provide a unique experience unavailable elsewhere, of course.

Meh, White Labs or Wyeast will lighten you for nearly £7 a pitch tho, and for half the cell count - putting half in and half onto the yeast bank (or perhaps 75:25) makes sense to me.

Beer is like porn - you can buy it easily enough, but its so much more fun to make it [wink]

Yeah very true but I'm a frugalist and I would be re-pitching the yeast a few times, and an occasional new pack that has a full pitch isn't going to make much difference to me. Yeast jugglers don't need no big bags of yeast brother.   [thumb]
