Got a pack of these from the maltmiller out of curiosity and did a brew with them last night, a 12L batch of 'Session' IPA. They are the concentrated lupulin glands from the hops so in theory should have double the potency of normal pellets. So even though they only come in 50g bags the price isn't that much more than the equivalent weight of normal hops. They smelt very potent from the packet and the brew is already kicking out some fruity aroma from the FV. I will be doing a video review once it's finished but so far so good [smile]

Sounds good, been thinking about trying these myself. So did you only use half quantities? Will you be dry hopping with them?

Yes dry hopping as well, I used the whole 50g in the batch so it's very heavily hopped anyway but 50g to achieve the equivalent of about 8g/L

Interesting stuff. I will be following your experiments to see how things go.

One of the big pains of my home brewing, especially of American style brews has been the variability of different batches of hops I have bought. I've had Galaxy which was only a fraction as potent as the first lot I got and was pretty disappointed in the beer that came out of that lot. The first brew was fantastic though.
I am off grid until the weekend.

I agree Tony, Galaxy has been by far the most inconsistent for me too, not just lacking in flavour but actually quite unpleasant in a couple of batches (to my palette anyway) which is very frustrating cos when it's good it's pretty close to being my favourite. Other hops to a lesser extent but I've still seen some pretty big differences between suppliers/batches. In my experience if they don't smell good in the packet there's not much chance of the big aroma/flavour coming back. Not much you can do about it when you don't get to test them till they arrive apart from sticking to reliable suppliers but even then there is variation beyond their control

Yes I've been following your remarks on this subject for a while. When I first got galaxy I thought I'd found the mother lode.....
