Hi aĺl. Got 23litres of red wine on the go. Not going to bottle it. But putting it in 5 litre containers .Would it be better to decant it out of them? Thanks

I'm not sure exactly what your plan is but it would be valid to siphon into large containers such as your 5L and then lay it up to mature. When it is closer to the time it would be consumed you could siphon into wine bottles just 5L at a time keeping the majority in bulk. Bulk storage of wine is an easy way to keep control of your stock and is pretty much what is done commercially.
Just try to keep air out of the process as much as possible by siphoning and sealing up ASAP. You might also want to keep your stock out of the light in a cool dark place [wine cellar or something of that ilk].

I used something like these to avoid bottling and they were ok but I eventually went back to bottles. They did collapse as they were emptied so air didn't get in until they were almost finished.  Did decant into a nice bottle for aesthetics initially but quickly moved to larger glasses. After use I stored them with water and a Campden tablet in them.

I ferment my wines and then rack to condition initially. I then split 4 gallon off into Demi John's and wine bottle the remainder.

I then empty a Demi every now and again into the six wine bottles and work way through until they're all done.

Works well.
