I am a farmer and grow barley for animal feed, I plant at a rate of 50kg to the acre so at that rate your 10kg could plant 800 square metres at my reckoning.
I get three tonnes plus to the acre return.

[Struth that's more than I can deal with !!! I am just hoping for 5 kilos do you think I will make it?]

I have planted this area which is  in an area about about 14 Square meters. I have planted the rows 150mm apart as they do commercially and quite generously, I used about 3 cups of grain for that area which wasn't much so this has left me with about 10 kg for me to play with, later I will have a go at malting that myself. I then covered the seeds with soil then frost cloth to keep the pesky birds off........first progress report!!!!

Excellent photos ... you are SO much more dedicated than me ... keep us posted.

Multi-tasking, easy, drink beer and watch telly.

Excellent info, thanks, stuff that I know nothing about

... this means that theoretically I could at least get a couple of tons of barley out of the "land" surrounding my house ... theoretically

I love your commitment! How are you going to harvest the crop though?

Looking forward to seeing how the barley progresses.

They will soon need to incorporate a small combine harvester into the grainfather, that will sort it. [biggrin]
